I think I may have asked this before, but times change so thought I'd ask again :)

I travel a lot with work, so when I'm home I like to chill out in our living room. My fab wife has no problem with me playing games, providing I don't lock myself away. Mainly play Warcraft and WoW. Nothing particularly demanding.

My work laptop is ok. i7, 4200M and 8GB RAM. But I don't like installing games on there. WoW doesn't need to be installed really.

I had thought about buying an SSD, external enclosure (eSATA) and installing Win7 on there along with my games and booting from it. I guess that is option one.

Option two is a new laptop. Don't think i need anything powerful/expensive.

Option three is a desktop in the living area. Not really good as no room for a desk.

Option four. Can I control/play on my desktop (upstairs) using my laptop?

    Thanks in advance

Yes using Steams Streaming option. Its a bit hit and miss in my experience, but once you set it up, it should be ok. Just ensure you have a good wireless signal (or use homeplugs)
