Everyones RAM reports like that - half the speed it really is - It's what DDR stands for - Double Data Rate

LOL.. yeah. sorry. Had a mental lapse.. no idea what I was thinking.. I even run my RAM at the same speed. Will amend in a minute.

Yeah.. we covered that around 70 pages ago... Linux distros seem to shine in this test.

If you are posting them for the boards, can you verify it's 3GHz please.

Also... the boards are Windows only.

Soon, soon the Intel Performance protection kicks in, then to give these 2500k's a sound thrashing...

    *insert manic laughter here*

How in the name of Zeus' salty butthole did you manage less than 12K points at 5ghz?!

Just because it ends in "s" doesn't mean that it's not a singular possession. :p Should be Zeus's

11.7K is only just under 12K and 12k seem to be the average for that chip at around that speed according to the tables. It's not breathtaking, but it's not terrible either.

It's upsetting... That's what! I need to tinkle with the memory perhaps to sneak over 12.

I was surprised as you are. I got no difference in score from 4.8ghz to 5. And this is running a few times in a row and taking the highest :(

    Just for extra motivation...

If you turn your speakers up, you might be able to hear my 920 laughing at your 2500K. :D :p ;)

Even my FX-8120 is laughing at it! And my memory scores are absolute tripe in relation to those!

x3 I rarely get a chance to gloat over Intel users, give me this, just the once.

it's not as if I'm going to catch anyone else any time soon. I'm not under water at the second, so my current score is staying there for a long while.

No no... I think you are right to have this one. Just watch this space. I hadn't had a proper play with settings... If I can push it up to 5.1/2 by altering the base clock, I think I'll get there. Also, I might just buy some faster memory. It has to be white though to match the build! :cooldude:

But yes... For a wc rig it shames me to see those above me.

I know that with Bulldozer I had to kill a lot of AMD's TDP limiting safeties. SUch as the Application Power Management (Which gave me another 1K points!), to the Hardware Thermal Control that killed the CPU speed the second it hit 55 degrees. I could get away with leaving Cool & Quiet enabled, however. That didn't seem to affect the score by anything more than a scant few points.

Faster memory will definitely put you right up against me, possibly past. I'm sitting in that no-mans land between the 2500 & 2600's at the second. I can't go forwards, though. The Memory Controller just can't manage it.

An idea might be Samsung 30nm's, just apply heat-spreaders to make 'em look white?

I'd forgotten entirely about load line calibration and all that before. So there is defo room tor more.

Strangely, with ibt, the max the cores would go to temp wise was 55c. But then there'd been random hangs and it says 68c, which I don't believe for a second. Mainly as the gigaflops doesn't twitch at all and temps come back at the same rate without falling with 100% load. I'm sure it is a glitch... But I don't know.

Cheers for the memory module idea. I'll see if there are some and if not settle for those type spreaders or some blue ram.
