    Looks like despite Otoy having the technology internally for years now, Google will have first-mover advantage for consumer use of Lightfields due to Otoy continually pushing back public release of their viewer in favour of integrating More Cloud Nonsense first. Hopefully this should give them the kick in the arse needed to stop chasing stream-lightfields-to-your-phone sillyness (with no mobile HMDs having position tracking yet, nor none on the horizon) and get the PC viewer into people's hands.

    Also interesting that Google've fabbed their own capture rig; Google were previously using one of Lytro's prototype Immerge capture segments (the infamous hexagon) in their Lightfield capture research.
