Just a quick question, what GPU client would be best? I've not seen any comparisons between GPU2 and GPU3 on AMD cards.
AMD cards can run either GPU2 or GPU3 http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/08/05/what-is-the-best-graphics-card-for-folding/1 Don't know which will offer better performance though.
There is no performance gain from one to the other. GPU3 simply offers more compatibility with newer cards.
Are you sure you'r right? None of the documentation for GP3 mentions AMD cards at all. My understanding is that GP3 is only for Nvidia cards. Does anyone owning an AMD card have it running on GP3 ?
One_Box, the CAL architecture that ATI uses is the same from GPU2 to GPU3. The major change was simply the change for Fermi-based cards using the CUDA architecture. Hence, there's no difference for ATI from GPU2 to GPU3.
