    nice work guys!

i was just wondering, do u have the 3dmark scores for the overclocked 9600PRO, for comparison with a 9600XT?

    cheers,

Nice one, another great article from the team. :D

    A couple of nit-picks though:
    Page 1:-
Well, if you Read back to our chipset conclusionsyou'll know
    Page 5:-
    - this is a Grade A game thatw as one of the best
    - Edios have obviously (it's Eidos).
    Page 6:-
    - FX5900XT at it's current price.picture_here
` I think you need a carriage return in there.
    - The Sapphire has it's components
    Page 7:-
    plumping for the Gainward instead.picture_here
    ` Carriage return again
    Page 8:-
    Best_of_TestAsus Radeon 9800XT
` Need a carriage return after the award image.

I've got 3dmark comparisons if that's any use to u... the 2001SE shoudn't be fully comparable due to differences in the CPU speed I've used, but the 3DMark2003 are much less CPU dependant so can be compared more vigorously. The '01 scores would probably differ slightly at the same CPU speed. Add around 60pts for the increase from 2511 to 2536Mhz, and then add around another 100-130pts for the difference between 2536 and 2568Mhz.

    3DMark2001SE
    9600pro clocked at 513/333: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7267481
9600XT Fireblade at stock (500/325 as opposed to 500/300 for normal 9600XT's): http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7504963
9600XT overclocked to 632/370: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7539049 (2nd highest score from an Athlon XP/9600XT on the ORB)

    3DMark03
    9600pro:
    stock: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1439222
    504/324: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1655918
    9600XT:
    stock: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2006176
    618/360: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2020766

Note, none of these overclocked speeds are stable for 24/7 use, and are just stable enough to run the benchmark to gain the highest score possible without artefacts. It's good for reference purposes though.

Hope this is of use to you.

I almost want to get a 5900XT now... It's only 30 more bucks than a 9600XT and appears to have much better performance.. 3dmark wise, which is basically good enough for me... Great overclocking too?

Too bad you guys didn't par up the 9700PRO in this review... Considering that 9700PRO = 5900XT price wise.. Although, I'd regret gettinga 9800PRO if I went and got the 5900XT, because I can get a 9800 pro for about 230 dollars USD, and the 5900XT is at 180-200... Hard decision, but I've got over a month to make it.

Does anyone know a good review that pars up the following: 9600XT, 9800PRO, 9800XT, 9700PRO, 5900XT, and the 5950 ultra?

    I'm seriously considering a 5900xt now lmao..

Thanks BigZ! Thats very useful, i was really wondering if clocking my 9600PRO would make it as good as/better than a 9600XT, and it seems it would! Although obviously making sure it was sable is important too.

    Thanks again,

    RoB

I am surprised you have not fixed or looked at the errors in the last graphics roundup.

Have you read the my posts and links in your last thread?

    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=50469

Things such as no nvidia card having eight pipelines, but on your table you have them clearly listing as having them.....

And the image quality comparisions at 3dcenter.de.

    or

Information about the card and driver support for Microsoft HLSL and GL Slang?

These two above are very important as loads of future games will be containg content from the above.

The above image, sure its of a 9800 Pro? I only ask because the image you show appears to be of a card with non-BGA memory which would be unusual for a 9800 Pro - in addition the cooler and overall board layout are unlike any 9800 Pro I've seen before, it looks more like a 9600 based card. I'm not sure, maybe Sapphire have changed their card design? Just looks different to me :)

All other 9800 Pros from Sapphire look like this which has a significantly different layout to the card pictured in the article.

    :)
