    From the Beeb:

Will it come with a hover convertion as a factory fit option now? What about a Mister Fusion? :D

All joking apart, I wonder if they'll do something nice with the powerplant... IIRC, the originals had a pretty naff Renault sourced V6, when it was designed for a big US V8.

Now where did I put that hoverboard and Sport's Alamanac? ;)

It is a heavy car (over a tonne), requiring a powerful engine. The Renault/Peugeot/Volvo offering was rather mediocre.

It had no power steering ( :eeek: ), and the exterior and interior panel fit (squeek!) was not not exactly up to German standards... The chassis was not stainless steel but covered in a thick epoxy layer, and was prone to a bit of rust. It had potential, but it was a product of the early Eighties.

It would be great if they corrected all these flaws. Personally, I think they need some inspiration from the Vector W8. That ain't a dashboard (DeLorean)... That's a dashboard (Vector W8).

Perhaps the cross-breed result would be like this. :D

Regardless of flaws, still one of my all time favorite cool looking cars. I'd love to see what they do with it.

There's no reason to get one other than the look and respect you'll gain from geeks.
Even so, that is one of the only cars I want.

I liked Vector in the 90s. I had a bunch of brochures/calendars full of Vector photographs. Too bad they're out of the game now; the WX3 was the coolest car when I was in school... except nobody knew what a Vector was... Great cars, though.

Are rotary engines bigger over there? They're practically unheard of on this side of the pond

Apart from the fact it looks awesome and you can hum the Back to the Future theme tune while doing 88mph while going down the motorway.

And if you get pulled over you can be like "Bbbbbut officer, it's a DeLorean! I can't NOT go 88 mph!"

Some guy who works in my building drives a DeLorean. The first time I saw it I did a double take, and now every time I see it I hear Doc Brown shouting "1.21 gigawatts!!"

Only Mazda use them frequently iirc. They require topping up with oil regularly unlike a normal petrol engine and you either love or hate them. From what I've been told, when they go wrong they **** up big time and cost a lot, but others say they're more reliable than anything else!?

its the cost of replace the apex seals that make them expensive and difficult to repair. but they dont have any valves so no cam belt/chain to drive, they burn oil just like a two stoke engine does to keep its internals lubricated.

    Someone has been watching Futurama...

I have always loved the DeLorean's looks, and always wished I could afford/find one. If they are to make them with those Renault engines though, well it would be a shame...
