When my GTX460 is under a full load it seems to make i high pitch noise! Is this normal? What do i do to stop it? Thanks guys!
Sounds like coil whine. My 5770 has it, as yet I don't know of a way to stop short of getting rid of the card. It is normal, if annoying I believe. I think it's the capacitors which make the noise though not sure.
Get a new card. That's it really, next time buy a card with higher quality components, ie, all solid caps.
I don't think most companies do replacements for problems that don't affect the performance of the product. Worth looking into though. If not, I've heard that covering the coils with hot glue can often correct the problem.
They have to, although not impacting on performance it's still a defect. It;s not meant to whine, simple as that. If only it was that easy to send women back when they start whining......
Idk, I have to say most companies will probably treat the card as non-defective if it just whines but otherwise works fine, they'll blame the rest of your system i.e. PSU, whatever. Except maybe XFX--they will not only send you a new card, but also a box of chocolates and a discount on a local stripper. Yeah they're THAT good lol.
