I'd go with either a HD5770 or the GTX260. Prices for both should be reasonably equal, as always depending on where you live. :)

Yup, the 5770 is cheaper than the GTX260 (though more expensive than the 4870), and offers similar performance to both of them as well as the other advantages of DX11, lower power draw and temperatures etc.

The 5750 is quite a bit slower than the GTX 260/4870.

4870 is more powerful for the same price... its really between the 5770 and others, NVIDIA and AMD have both stated that DX11 won't be ground breaking

    They did? When?

From what i've seen tesselation is the biggest thing to happen to 3D graphics since pixel and vertex pipelines.

Having tesselation is one thing, it's implementation and use is quite another. Even ATI's 8500 series had a tesselation engine (EDIT: and yes I mean 8500, not 5800)

So far the 360's tessalation capabilities have been useless and unused (and if the snippits through google are anything to go by it will continue to be as apparently it's implementation is a bitch to develop for). It's only now, with DX11 behind it, that it will drive 3D graphics into the next generation.

Heres a video showing what tessalation will bring to games. The demo is available on the net for 5800 owners to splooge at

This is why alot of poeple are concerned at the news nVidia will only be supporting tessalation on a software level with Fermi.
