Playstation 3 Heavy Rain Tech Demo released

The new tech demo for Heavy Rain, from the makers of Fahrenheit, is out. A closer look at this second video reveals how detailed the facial animation is - enough to easily rival Crysis.

I interviewed David Cage, head of Quantic Dream, a while ago and he told me a little bit about the engine and how the game is shaping up. Trust me when I say it'll rock your world if its half as good as he made it sound.

 

Looks OK I suppose, but just showing eyes as a tech demo is useful upto the point that if they can only render that portion of the head in real time, what happens to the rest of the scene?

That's a older but more informative tech demo - now a few years old, from E3 2006. The engine has moved on massively since then and no incorporates motion capture among other things, to help iron out the imperfect valley.
