Given the choice, I'd have the Gene-Z.

Thanks for your advises ... I'll go for the gene-Z then, plus it will match my Asus 5870 V2 color :D

As you're mainly going to be playing games I'd definitely go for the i5. Both of the motherboards are solid choices, personally I'd go for the Sabertooth but the Gene does look sweet and some of the Z68 features might be useful to you.

I'm playing, but my main use still is Blender (moddeling and animation) + mypaint + gimp + inkscape (decided to go with free apps now) and I'm going to continue my physics / rendering engine I was developping a few years ago (didn't had time to work on it since my family increased in size, twice :lol:). Was working on atmospheric scattering, gaz simulation and physics of the light, etc.

I didn't mentioned Sketchup since it is a single threaded app (too bad).

Wy the sabertooth over the gene-Z ? I didn't place the order yet, I read it wrong it is 24-08 midnight (I thought it was up to the 24th ... i.e 23-08 midnight :p).

I'd thought of the PII X6 because of the heavy threading use, but seams that i5 is still better at that than AMD. i7 could be a nice choice, but really out of budget.

Go i5 as its a little quicker in games + gives you a chance to upgrade to IVYbridge should you wish.

    :)
