Does it have a coaxial S/PDIF in? or the optical variety?

I've just heard we may be getting another similar piece of equipment which deals with SDIF is this very different? However it can also use AES.

isnt SDIF a format not a connection type ?

Sound description interchangeable format (after a quick wiki)

so that piece of kit would use a AES connection and use SDIF format ?

I think I may be confused I think the soundcard must contain Digital Stream inputs (the ones that look like coaxial). I find all of this very confusing.

I should also mention I have an RME UFX which has a firewire out. Maybe I could use that.

SPDIF not SDIF. Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format. And yeah it's an interconnect spec along with format.
