    I recently installed spybot S&D and zonealarm but my mum says that they're not needed 'cos we have ad-aware and norton anti-virus:)rolleyes:) and uninstalled them. So now I need your help to convince her that they are needed

    Tell her it's not your fault if the computer goes down because she's not taking adequate precautions.

    ad aware finds ad programs, spybot finds spy ware, norton anti virus cleans viruses and zonealarm is a firewall

    4 diff proggies doing 4 diff things tbh

    but norton 2004 finds spyware aswell as viruses, it says so on the box, <inocent voice>I swear it</inocent voice>

    Actually I run both. I find that neither program will find all of the crap floating around in there. Whichever I run first, the second always finds 1 or 2 items left behind - guaranteed.

    explain why, when i ran adaware then spybot, spybot found 100 programs that adaware didnt?

    Tell your mum to get back in the kitchen and to stop using your PC.

    ad-aware and spyboy do seem to find things the other has missed.

    It's a firewall. You NEED a firewall.
    Going online without a firewall is like removing most of your skin with a sander and jumping into a tank of raw sewage - a nasty and slow way to go.

    inference - the internet is a sewer. (apart from Bit, of course.)
