    Nope. No Vauxhall's around here either. The only Brittish cars over here (for the most part) are Land Rovers, Jags and Mini's are starting to get a little popular.

    Holden was kind enough to provide GM with a platform for building the new GTO - guess who has my vote ;)

    Vauxhall (or Opel) are part of the GM group.

    Personally I'd rather have a Ford, because I've never seen a Holden, but I absolutely hate the thought of owning either.

    I thought Opel started out in Germany quite some time ago... After that something happened and now everybody drives Vauxhall's except for the Germans and Dutchmen... they still drive Opel's :hehe: Weird.

    Argh....

    Opel = German company.

    Vauxhall = British company.

    Now they all = one and the bloody same.

    *n (Holdens are great)

    Vauxhall and Holden are owned by GM. Along with a shed load of other companies (Saab included... ;) )

    Ford own just about everything else. :D

    [I edited the poll BTW]

    Yeah, Holden are the Aussie version of Vauxhall. The Holden Astra is identical to the Vauxhall Astra. The little Holden is the same as our Corsa.

    I wish they'd bring over the big stuff like the Commodore. Now I'd buy one of those no problem. :)

    My vote is Holden (I drive a Vauxhall Astra).

    Holden was kicking Ford's ass on the V8 Brute racing last time I saw it on MotorsTV.

    Hmm...a Calibra with balls. *drool*

    Shame they're only bringing in 300 per year. I think that may change.

    hey, my first time posting, but i been browsing this place for a while. Nice board.

    Im from Australia so Holden is a word you get taught in school. I dont pretend to be a treadhead i am more into the aesthetics of a car.

    For looks, Monaro's definatly take the cake. I think i was hooked the first time i saw the tv add. As for the HSV's, im not really thrilled by the latest version of the commodore, a bit to retro imho. The 2001 model HSV however looks absolutley awesome, not sure how else to describe the looks other then a 4door monaro with a more robust body kit.

    Im not really into fords that much, however their latest model looks 1000 times better then their previous model, and given holdens new model, i think the fords look better.

    FPV = Ford as HSV = holden. I havent seen much of those cars, nore have i read any reviews on them.

    As for the v8 Super cars, for those that dont know, it is Australias major motor sports, all the cars are either Holden or Ford, but with different parts/teams/sponsors etc. More difference between cars then you would think.

    Dude. The Nova was designed in the early 80's. The Corsa is just a slightly updated Nova. Of course it's crap. They've always been nasty, cheap vehicles for 17-year-olds to wrap round trees and for old 80 year old ladies to drive to WI in.

    The Vectra was a bad car the start - the Cavalier is still a better car 15 years on. I don't know where it came from - but when Vauxhall launched the new Vectra they outright said "Yes, the old Vectra was complete ****, but this new one is totally different.".

    You've obviously not driven a Mk4 Astra or a Mk2 Vectra then? Go drive one or other of those, then come back and give your opinion.

    At least Vauxhalls don't rust like a Ford. My mother has a '00 Fiesta. It's rotting away as you watch it. She's been fighting with Ford for nearly a year trying to get it fixed under the anti-corrosion warranty.
