Hello all.. Got a little problem. I am trying to set upp a home network with cabels in the walls and all that stuff. So my problem is it dont work . It is something with the wiring and the twisting and stuff. I have connected all like this 1. Cabel from computer to wall Straight cable. T568B in both ends 2. Connector in the wall T568B from it. 3. Patch panel connected the cable to the patchpanel like T568B 4. cable from patch panel to Hub/switch Straight cable. T568B both ends. So What is wrong in that ??.. i bet it is something very simple that i havent thought of. But should it not be just straight all the way to the hub/switch..??.. im confused.. anyone that can help?. Regards
Factoid: It matters not which you use, A or B so long as both ends of the cable are the same. Did you crimp any of the connectors yourself? If so, check them, and redo if you have any doubt as to their integrity. Have you set up the network with all the hardware in one place, using the same patch cables? That would eliminate the patch cables/panels and switches etc from the equation, and would tell you if you need to look to the jacks and cabling in the walls. Also, try going directly from the wall in your closet to the switch, bypassing the patch panel, simpler is better for diagnosis.
ok here is a new scenario. The network works when i do this. 1. Laptop - wall straight cable 2. from wall to patch panel 3. from pacth panel to a adsl modem with a straight cable Now it works.. but not when i try top change the modem for the hub??.. why??..
You're getting the right port on the hub correct? What exactly does it do when you try it? Any lights at all? Do you have a firewall, and is it configured to allow access to the hub? Is the hub also a DHCP server? Soooo many questions... LOL Make and model of the hub would be a plus, JIC someone else has also had this question...
hehe.. it is solved now.. the patchpanel was all f*cked upp.. but it works now.. Thanks for the help anyway.
