Im still undesided on what version how HL2 to get.

    whats eveyone else gettin

    a - bronze edition
    b - silver edition
    c - gold edition
    e - standard dvd edition
    f - collectors dvd edition
    g - not getting it

im torn between silver and collectors edition, i dont want bronze or standard as i want hl:source. but im not sure if i want to have to download hl2 everytime i re-install my pc, that seems to be one of my main draw backs with the steam download versions.

*note to mods, add a poll if ya want*

i wud be too if i hadnt already bought silver, but reasons for not regretting it

    Silver lets you.....
    -play cs:s now
-have all games made by valve
    -DOD:source
-being able to play HL2 the INSTANT its available..
-probs save a few £ on some box.. £40 for silver all together, im guessing its guna be about £50-£60 for collectors in the uk.. and are you really guna wear a valve tee-shirt.. come on

and i have a pretty fast connection, may as well utilize it, or else id be just wasting my money

i already had been beta testing source, and had all the previous games already, so i only had to d/l the hl2 stuff, but i did start up a new account, and now ill probs sel my HL1/CS:CZ account.. or, lend to a friend

I'm getting it "shoved through my pipe", as they say.

Is DOD:Source available with the ATI voucher, or do you have to pay out for it? ie. silver/bronze gubbins?

I got the silver, seems like a decent package. I actually would have prefered a physical disc, but I'm too lazy to get it and I know it.

I think I'm going to be old-fashioned and say I'm going to buy the game in the shops. I just like the idea of having the CDs/DVD.

Silver for me, from Steam. Already purchased, just waiting for that last few bytes. You can back up the games folder in your Steam directory to a cd (or DVD). You don't have to redownload anything. Once the game is activated you don't even have to be online to play, so I really don't see the difference between the boxed or downloaded versions. Except that I didn't pay any tax.

Collectors edition for sure. Halflife 1 was worth buying and im sure this will be too. Also, im gonna need it for benchmarks and whatnot.

For people who ARE buying it from play - which version do they have?? Its £27 from play atm (i have preorder from Sept 03) - is it collectors or standard edn??
