My rig is currently broken and will be for about a month so I will have to get the ps3 out to game now . I have connected my Dell U2311h to my HP dv6000 laptop and this doesn't play any even slightly modern games. How would I plug my ps3 into the monitor as there is no HDMI port, I think, and it doesn't have speakers, I think. Is there a way to plug into a monitor without HDMI and play the sound through my PC speakers. Also, to save posting another thread, can anyone recommend some sub £100 2.1 speakers thanks
Yes, and yes. You can play the video through the monitor if you buy a HDMI to DVI adaptor/cable, then all you need to do is get a dual female phono to female 3.5mm jack for the audio to your speakers! TSB
To get the audio you can use the Playstation AV out connector on the back (the one that has lived since the PSX) with a phono-> 3.5mm adapter as StockBroker suggests, just don't forget to adjust the audio output modes on the PS3 (and the video output modes too).
Sounds like solid advice, I just wonder Krikkit, how does he adjust the settings? While it is still connected to the TV or will you be able to adjust after connecting to PC monitor as well? I like your hypno toad
