Hi Don't suppose anyone knows where I can get hold of the recovery media iso for HP OEM Windows 7 Home Premium OA. Friends laptop drive has died so cant use the recovery partition and the key on the back of the laptop is OEM. Pretty certain you cant use the OEM keys with the ISO's you used to be able to pull off digital river (which I think are now defunct?) Cheers Kosch
I tried that with his key but doesn't work. I sold all my 7 keys and only have 8/10's so cant get past that login!
I've always used OEM keys with the digital river downloads without any issues. Sometime you need to call the automatic phone line to activate as the online methods doesn't always work but I've never had a OEM key fail yet. I've got the ISO's still for Home Premium so if your struggling let me know and I'll burn and post one.
You can turn a retail DVD into an OEM DVD by editing a single file and once installed you just need to telephone activate as dynamis_dk says.
Thanks guys. Digital river has been taken down so you cant download there any more. I have a retail pro ISO image but not sure if that can be converted to OEM Home Premium will do some digging. Seen a couple of ISO's on some torrent sites but not sure I'd trust that as could be riddled with god knows what.
Yes any Windows 7 media can be turned into any other. If you have a spare 4gb+ USB stick, use the DVD to make a USB install media. Then find and edit ei.cfg each time you want to fuss. Channel can be "Retail" or "OEM" to force the correct licensing channel. EditionID can be one of the following: Ultimate Professional HomePremium HomeBasic Starter https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/hh824952.aspx explains it all. You can delete ei.cfg totally and just select from a drop down but then you can't force it to OEM channel.
