It is meant as a shorts thread. Where you can let us know what you are up to. I am now up to this. Oh and a bit of this too. Man that wasn't as fun though, bit cold lmao. New seat for the STA, a bike I have been collecting parts for for six years. I even have a set of decals for it, but it was far too cold to clean the bike and put them on.
Yeah it is. Sadly due to my eyes being total crap now it at least allows me to see it when I put my fingers down wrong.
I've been using right-angled adapters for years, have no idea why this wasn't a thing about two decades ago. Makes complete sense. Side-facing PCI-e power sockets the same (as per the EVGA sideways adapters).
The answer to this is likely to be down to Molex. I think at one point they had a strangle hold on (certainly PC) power connectors and therefore kept everything nice and easy, and cheap to manufacture. Not so much anymore. That may be incorrect, so I'm sure a more accurate theory will show up shortly
Right. Angled. 24 pin. Adapter. Why have I not heard of this? Why have I never looked. That damned 24 pin has always bugged me both positionally and the amount of pressure you have to give the damned things some times.
The excuse for years from board manus was that they were bad, mmkay. What they really meant was they cost more, and board manus are cheap. I have only ever seen them on stupid high end boards, which is a shame. As if more companies used them they would in theory become cheaper over time.
I have a right-angled USB3.0 header on my motherboard. I had to fit a right-angled adaptor so that the cable wouldn't hit my side-mounted radiator fans! Also, these are now available to order from Cablemod - 90/180 16VHPWR adaptors:-
That's incredibly similar to the EVGA ones I was on about. Plus the fact that the jokers on the design teams put those stupid thumb catches on both 8 and 24-pin leads on the most awkward side that requires you to have the thumbs of a five year old with the strength of a cage fighter in order to replug them whenever your build errors require it. Which is frequently, in my case.
Man I loved those Powerlinks. Soooo tidy. I hope they go back to making cool things like that. As a side note, I think EVGA did the whole 90' sockets first. They do need to be reinforced, which is probably why they cost more and or you don't see them on all boards.
I couldn't find any. They're grey, and I was hoping I could take the wheels out and paint the carriers. Sadly I did not realise they are riveted in. Plus I also couldn't be arsed lol.
Yeah I suppose I could have spent all day masking them up etc but yeah.... Got a funeral tomorrow, and really just cba. It's very easy to move now, so there is that.
Hope you get through ok mate, sorry to hear (I really don't like dragging myself through them tbh, even my own dad's - the only good part being the pissup with family at the pub afterwards) And that's the main thing
