The contractors are coming to do some work on my living space so I've been boxing stuff up to put in storage until they are done. What a PITA! I'm using 12" X 12" by 12" boxes so that they all stack nice. Boxes are all getting labeled so I can find stuff later. Sheesh! 2 boxes marked SATA disk drives, 2 boxes of mini-itx motherboards and associated stuff. 3 boxes of VHS tapes for movies I haven't gotten around to get DVDs of, boxes and boxes of optical drives and power supplies, 2 full size G5 cases, an empty MicroFly case(saving it for removable MB tray - yeah right) My Cooler Master ATCS HTPC, 2 Tivo series 2, 2 PS2, ps1 with LCD. Damn, I still have an 8 track player from one of my old cars. Sheets of clear acrylic from 4' X 8' down to a pile of 12" X 12" pieces from when I made protein skimmers.

This rant is to remind people to check their stash once in a while and maybe thin out a little. ROFL
I've been in this house only 18 years. Some of this stuff is older than some forum members. :hehe:
Do I really still need the old IBM core memory board? :sigh:

Just too much stuff. Maybe I'm overstuffed, like an old chair commercial.

Heh, you sound like my Dad.

He normally says "It will come in use one day" or "Do you know how much that was to buy" :D

Feel free to donate that stuff to me.
Except it will sit in my basement not getting used.
Maybe I should clean out some of my stuff...

Lol, sounds like you have your hands full, John! I come by packratitis genetically. My fraternal grandmother had a whole wall wide closet of shelves filled with various lengths of fabrics, some of which were sixty years old. A movie and play costume designer's paradise really. All of it was in very good condition and nicely folded. Frankly, I find random heatsinks and miniscule hard drives much more fascinating. I even have one of those MicroFly cases around for exactly the same reason. ;P

The contractors say my room - the master suite in the house - is 14' X 24' not counting the attached full bath and walkin closet with a second closet inside. I'm not sure I believe it. Trying to make it wheelchair accessible but it's got so much stuff in it the 142 lb. Newfoundland/Black Lab has to back up. Can't turn around in some areas. ROFL. That's OK, she's a bed hog. Can't fit, can't jump into the bed when she gets cold. Ever try to sleep with a 142 lb dog panting at night? Not pretty.:nono:

I could use a hard drive or two, and I've been trying to cobble together a small server computer.. so if you're feeling generous, I'll gladly put stuff to good use :)

I have this plan. I have to stay alive long enough to make some kind of use for all this stuff. I figure I need to live about 800 yrs. like Yoda. OH, I forgot my new Compaq Presario Dual Core Intel. Haven't taken it out of the box yet. I want to see Vista. I'm afraid I have to learn it for work so best to make the mistakes at home.

Did I mention I have model car kits in the basement that go back to the 70's. that will add a couple more decades. I was saving them for my son Ryan but he is legally bind and severely vision impaired. I would really like to find a model car club to donate them to. I enjoyed the heck out of model building back in the 60's. Too many computer games and consoles now days. SIGH!

OMG! I have plastic models in the basement going back to the same era! I have some cars, motorcycles, tanks and sci-fi related, in particular Star Wars! They're in a huge box under the stairs. Belonged to the plastic modeling society in Denver for a couple years with my boyfriend. They're probably still around.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check at my local model shop, Mizell Trains. Maybe I can donate the boxes of Fine Scale Modeler and Scale Auto magazines. I donated several models many years ago to St. Anthony's hospital to pass around.

but seriously, maybe you could yardsale some of your stuff? or something? Donate it to poor children or whatsoever? I mean... Get rid of stuff that you don't use? I also collect a lot of unnecessary stuff, but my mum keeps track of what is to be removed from my room :p Wonders of living with parents...

Heres what you do. Find some rather large iron bathtub. Envelope it in some sort of protective cover. Heat said bathtub up. Drop spare parts in. Watch melt. Watch the environment go up in smoke.
