News Id working on new version of Doom 4

Id started work on Doom 4 afresh in 2011 despite having poured three years into the project already.

I hope some CoD developers are reading this.
It was like your games so they started over. Something to be learnt there.

 

There was also a comment in a Kotaku article that Zenimax had threatened Id that Doom 4 better be good or else...

 

Original didn't contain enough profit making opportunities....

 

I will expect this game to be bad, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Doom 3 was better than a lot of people said it was and the shadows were awesome, but lacked the incredible impact of the first game.

 

Just rename it Daikatana 2 and get it over with.

id egos again biting off more than they can chew, plus, have they done anything relevant since ... Quake 3? Quake 2?

iD are massively over-hyped developers - they haven't made anything truly innovative since they introduced the world to online multiplayer.

ID, good at writing game engines, crap at games. They should licence out the brand name and let someone who is good at writing games do it. With immersion and not just the normal shoot wierd deformed creatures ID put in thier games..

 

It is a consequence of taking too many decades to complete a game. They take so long to produce one game that it's outdated long before completion. So now they will restart Doom 4 with a reduced timescale of 10 years for completion and in year 8 they will realise the game is once again outdated....

 

I've already played Doom 4.

All you have to do is install Doom 3 along with the Wulfen high res textures and Sikh mod and you can too.
