I got this from my brother, where he got it...I dunno..

It was a traffic light, it runs of 4 D cell batteries. Underneath the amber cover there, there's 2 really bright amber LEDs, hooked up to a little circuit board. I tried to find a manual for it on the internet to find out exactly how it worked, but all I could find out is that somehow you can set it to flash, or steady-on. At the moment it flashes. As near as I can tell it's got a light-sensetive switch, there's 2 holes on one side and one on the other, if you cover them it comes on.

I'd like to mod it or incorporate it into a mod or something. I really have no ideas, so.. any ideas you have would be appreciated.

Can you see any chips or is it all potted in epoxy? A datasheet for one of the chips may show you the "typical" application. Otherwise browse for applications of the CMOS version of NE555/NE556. I think you will find something.

you could set one in the window.....put those clamps on your fan leds that make em pulse. If the big one is light sensitive then the pulse of the leds should trigger the biggy. Of course, that may blind you if your case is on your desk. Gnarly thought tho.

It'd be kind of cool to find one of those sensors they use in the sound-reactive ccs. I thnk you know where I'm going with that.. :)

You could paint a case with yellow and black diagonal stripes and write on it with big letters under construction or get an image on the web and print it and work with it. your light on top would look cool

It might be cool if you could rip all the electronics except the leds out and use it as a massive ide activity light. Then you could mount it on top of your computer or monitor. Might be kinda distracting though.

Do you have any pictures of the insides?
