I'd grab my netbook bag, which stays with me pretty much 90% of the time. It contains a 500GB backup drive that has all my photos/documents/life on. As well as my netbook :)

Under the other arm would be my dog.

Lappy, ext. hdds, cat. Cat usually sits next to me wherever I am, and so my plan of escape in these situations would be:

    Grab lappy bag
    Grab cat
Out thru the study window on the first floor, cat would jump down, I'd walk over the roof to our next-door neighbours, and climb down the ladders he has stacked against the side of his house, relocate the cat, wait out front for the fire brigade.

    Plan++!

I would usually say HDD.... but It would really be easier and faster to grab the whole desktop, It would take longer to get into the case and pull out the HDD than just grabbing the whole thing.

My HDD would be easy to grab although I can't say I'd bother if there was a fire.

fun enough, i could just pick up my workstation under one arm, and pull all the cables free in one go as i never secure the DVI connection ever!

That way i could walk out with all my final year work, probably end up losing the important photo's on my main machine as it would take to long to unplug and run with that.

On the other hand screw all that, the biggest cause of fire right now is my computer corner, so most likely grab the burning object and throw it out the house! oven mits Cheesecake! (kitchen next to office)

Aw, now I can't be the clever person to say that first.

But other than the wallet, my cell phone. Need to call the fire department once I'm outside. After that I'd completely ignore my PC and get my cats. The smoke detector would probably scare them both so I'd have to manually get them outside. My cats > your rule. Data can be replaced and recreated just like hardware, lives cannot.

Of course, once the cats were out I'd be making a mad dash through the flames to grab my PC. Gaming and internet access > second degree burns.

On my desktop? My phone. Not much of value on my desk, but with the phone I can call for help.

I would try to grab my offline backup from the cupboard behind me. If that fails I would grab my fileserver on my way out. (Doesn't matter as long as I get one of them with me.)

    Not much else that's irreplaceable.

    Edit:

And my Guitar. Playing by the fire sounds nice ;)

Trousers on, wallet, keys, phone into pockets, laptop bag, and then usher the retarded dogs outside.

Thinking about it, I'd grab a big bag of marshmallows and a couple of long-handled toasting forks.
