Small Form Factor in search of a small powerful PSU

    any exist? my case will be like 3.5" wide probably 12" tall, more power the better

    In that size? No, probably not.

    Go external, if you intend on such a small case.

    You can't fit that AND a motherboard in such a small enclosure. Not with the rest of the things it takes to run a PC (HDD, optical, and so on). If you're going to go external, you may as well get a regular ATX PSU, as they're cheaper and easier to get a hold of.

    Just extend the cables, maybe make your own jack on the back of the PC so that it's modular, and any ATX PSU will run it.

    I believe that still requires an external brick of some sort, to change the AC to DC. It is pretty small, though, if I remember correctly (somewhere around the size of a laptop brick), so you could give that a shot.

    The smallest PSU that I've seen with the most wattage is Shuttle's PC40. That's what I'm going to use for my current project as I couldn't find anything stronger with that size of an enclosure. It measures 3.2"(w) x 1.7"(H) x 7.5"(L). You can go here to check it out.

    I got a 300W 1U PSU from eBay for about $70.
    I think it's almost 4" wide, though.
