    This is very good news, and I applaud Intel for listening to their customers instead of pursuing the 'it hasn't happened' PR tactics.

    However, I'm fairly certain that the next tidbit I hear about this 'magic' firmware release will be one of two things:

    1) It's caused a serious regression/incompatibility, and/or had a significant effect on the drive's longevity.

    2) The firmware has been reverse-engineered/hacked to remove the write limitations.

    I actually like #2 better myself. Now if only I could afford the £300+ for one of these 80GB drives... With them working better, I suppose there's little chance of them dropping any time soon. :(

    For 300 pounds i could buy 3 1tb spinpoints and put it in raid.
