Questions what motherboard is that?(and what form factor)? What 53xx xeons are in use? Oh and where did you pick up the FBRAM is there anywhere cheep? Only asking cos I am looking to upgrade my 4core xeon setup to that ^_^
You, Sir, are indeed correct in this observation. It's got some 3GHz 1333s in it but I can't remember the model number off hand.
Are they stock or overclocked at 3Ghz? Because I don't remember any quad-core xeons at 3Ghz. The highest clocked 1333 xeon is X5355 at 2.66.
Forgot to mention its SSI EEB form factor. Its very similar to the current SSI CEB, in that they have the same mounting as ATX boards, but they are slightly larger, only by about an inch or so though.
Make ones of these with another 1 or two PCI-E slots and without the expensive FB-DIMM RAM and it'll sell like crazy.
Maybe I shouldn't have said anything then If these posts are deleted later, you know why The problem is you need Fully Buffering otherwise your northbridge has to act as a distribution hub between 8 cores all wanting and waiting for memory access, so FB's provide a respectively better performance until Intel integrates each chip with its own memory controller. It does have two x8 slots as well, although I'm not sure if we're allowed to "mod them" in order to accept an x16 card
Ha admit it! You "can't remember the model number off hand" because it doesn't exist yet! I just noticed the space for another x16 slot next to the one that is there. Hmmmm.
They're Xeon X5365s. http://www.bootdaily.com/index.php?...=460&Item id=56> &task=view&id=460&Itemid=56
Will that kind of mobo fit into a lian li PC71 then? (probs big enough?) Why would you need more PCI-e slots , it isnt like it is aimed at gamers... shame you will have to use one of the PCI-x slots for a soundcard though.
well I will never have a need for it but it's still pretty cool, I have always wanted a dual socket mobo to bad it isn't LGA775
And I hear the new 1333 fsb chips are fine if you don't overclock especialy the quad core chips Oh and there is always the mod you can use on the old qauds to make them 1333 fsb
Found a pic of my old Inline-4 I'm actually really considering another 4 socket computer, this time a AMD workstation*. Only way to get 8 AMD cores atm. 4x4 is misleading... I think the computer industry needs more car analogies. * I've finally lost the plot completely.
