Does anyone know if ISPs keep (user-identifiable) records of the sites that you visit over a period of time?

Would it be possible for instance to give them an address (physical or IP) and for them to pull up the history? (the reverse of the usual trick by the BPI, MPAA and similar)

Generally not for very long, when they do at all - logging creates a huge amount of data, and retaining it longer than is needed for short-term troubleshooting serves little purpose for the ISP. It's likely that they'll be forced to keep more thorough logs in the future though.

Generally it is the sites that keep a track of the IP and ISP than vice versa. And if it's a worry about 'those' kinda sites, they don't really need to find out who you are to know what sick stuff you're into! :p
