It's pity they probably won't be using "iPhone" for their cellphone, since Cisco (Linksys) announced their iPhone product range today. I think it's a real shame, I've been dreaming of an Apple-designed phone ever since I saw it mentioned somewhere. The name has gotten a pretty clear meaning, especially since newssites, blogs, fans and industry analists have been using that name to describe Apple's cellphone. It's the most anticipated Apple product ever, and now we have to get used to a new name... which name can replace the brilliantly simple iPhone? Well, no matter how they call it, if they do their job right I'll buy it anyway

Gizmodo came with a teaser last week: Gizmodo Knows: iPhone Will Be Announced On Monday Of course last monday they also posted some explanations: The iPhone Lives: But the Trademark Belongs to Cisco The iPhone is Dead: Long Live the Apple Cellphone Thingy-Ma-Bob And the info on the new fake linksys wannabe iPhone thingy: Linksys Not-Apple-iPhone Details and Photos
It would be cool if the scroll wheel worked like the circular diallers on really old phones. CLick, brrrrrrrr, click, brr, click brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The first iteration of Apple's phone will simply be called "iPod Phone" and will very simply be an iPod and a phone. Their second phone to come out will be a smartphone with everything, and I have no idea what they will call that one.
Care for a source? I don't think people want an iPod phone so much as just an Apple-made phone. I plan to get a would-be iPhone, but if all it really amounts to is an iPod that can call people, there's no sense spending the extra cash on it. I already have two iPods, thanks.
