I have a viewsonic VX2260WM. I have had it for about 2 months now and have always noticed that the screen itself is brighter in the middle than the edges. I thought nothing of it because it hasn't affected general use, however, when watching some films the other day it became tremendously noticeable and down right irritating. Here are some picures: This is on an all black background. Is this normal for the monitor/monitors in general or should I start complaining about this? Or is there a way to fix it?
It's the way it's backlit that causes certain areas to be brighter than others. I bought a budget-ish 24 inch monitor, and the center is perfect, but the edges are slightly darker. The ways to prevent this are buying a higher quality monitor, or buying a fully backlit monitor, which aren't exactly cheap at the moment.
Oh, sorry.. I was viewing from my Eee PC earlier and didn't see the entire image. If there's a big light patch in the center, there's likely something wrong with the monitor. Backlighting is usually pretty poor, but not that bad, and not in that pattern.
Yes, i would say so. Get in touch with whoever you bought it from and explain the problem and arrange a return.
