My friends daughters laptop wont power on.

The power switch is built into one of the keyboard keys and it has come off and doesnt seem to work, it also looks like it has a dent in it if you zoom in.

I get the power switch led light and the one next to it on the left come on briefly but no boot, i dont know what the non power switch led is for.

Are these even replacable, it seems like a decent spec laptop from a quick google.

That typo could go in so many directions... all bad.
Can you poke the center with a pen or something to power up? You might be able to ghetto a new key.

    Oops fixed that.

actuating it with something else does cause those same two leds to light but nothing else happens.

Is it plugged in when you try to turn it on?

You can probably get replacement key caps and hinge mechanisms on ebay if you type part of the HP model number in so 15-xx for example. Make sure you match how they look as some manufacturers use different keyboard vendors for the same laptop so the mechanisms can be different but...

This makes me think it's more of a motherboard fault.
