    Hi guys,

I just received an iPod touch (the first generation one I believe). However I'm a little annoyed now since I cant even start to use this device. I downloaded iTunes and connected my Touch to my computer and I seem to be stuck in a loop where iTunes wants to "restore" my Touch but it doesn't complete. I receive an error -1608. This is my first apple product so I have no idea what to do.

Any help will be appreciated. Any questions just ask.

Thank in advance for your guys help.

I just took my device to the apple store where they werent able to resolve the issue. I suspect my device may be dead on arrival. Does anyone know if apple will be able to replace/repair my device? Thanks again

Apple can fix it, but they will charge you a fee if the product is out of warranty, or if a certain thing breaks. They don't cover everything for ipod touches with their warranties. You will have to look into this issue with apple to have it fixed or replaced.

Thanks guys, I gave apple a ring today but unfortunately I didnt have my serial number at hand, I couldnt even pressure the person on the other end to give any information away. I recieved the ipod a few weeks ago from my mobile phone operator as a promotion to upgrade (it worked!) but it took a while to get to me. Typical that it came dead on arrival, they dont want anything to do with it either all they suggested was that I get in touch with apple.

I'll call again tomorrow with my serial number and let you guys know. Thanks
