After 75 shows and winning just over $2.5 million on Jeopardy, Ken Jennings has finally lost. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/01/arts/television/01jeop.html I'm a big Jeopardy fan, so it was exciting.
I haven't watched Jeopardy in years, but I clicked your link anyways. You need a subscription to view your link.
Ah, sorry, I must have had a cookie that kept me logged in. Here's another link I found: http://www.cbc.ca/story/arts/national/2004/12/01/Arts/jennings-jeopardy041201.html
Technicaly he lost months ago. They just aired it later. My wife said they film 4 or 5 episodes per day.
I think the coolest thing about watching him play was the way it made Trebek (sp) feel. When Ken was winning/on a roll Mr. Trebek looked lit up, like he had been waiting for something like this for years. I didn't watch the game he lost, but I can say that me and my best friend would rush home at 3:00 all summer to catch the shows. /edit: plus the ways he wrote his name on the screen was HILARIOUS. Anyone want a "Best of Jennings" DVD?
Thats about normal. Over a certain amount, winnings get taxed at over a 50% rate. A guy over here just one almost 315 million dollars in a lottery. He "only" took 154 or so to the bank. Honestly, its not like hes going to miss the other 150+ million. In the case of Jennings, however, I think he will miss it.
Yes, that's true. He lost in September and it leaked out on the Internet that he would lose sometime in November. He said he does his own taxes, so he wasn't familiar with H&R Block. "Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white collar employees work only four months a year". It's something you just have to know. Although it doesn't seem like FedEx employees would only work 4 months out of the year... By the way, H&R Block has offered him free financial services for the rest of his life.
Cool, it seems like Ken will be able to win back that money he loses in taxes with special appearances and the money earned by the book he's planning to write.
