Modding LCD Monitor Base

I got a LCD monitor from work and it works perfectly,

WHY did they donate it to us?
The base is broken into two pieces..

The base is made of plastic and metal...
It's Dell 17FP..

the part that's broken is hard to apply pressure to make them stick together.
So I need suggestion on what to use to put them back together.

 

Pics so we can see how/where exactly it is broken?

 

Without pics it's hard for us to suggest something. But here's a link to a guy who made a base out of plexiglass (among the other things he did to the monitor). You can see the base on the fourth picture of page 3. Don't know if that is any help, but I tried.

Its not as if you are going to be carrying your modded computer around, so why worry about its weight and material type.

Why not try drilling rivets out in future instead of grinding their heads off!!

Not quite sure what you mean by the rivets, unless you're referring to my project log. In my discussion thread I commented that I should have used a drill but I'm kinda new to all of this and don't always know the best way to do things.

 

I'd say the best option would be to donate the monitor to me for use in a projector project .... jk
