I just built the fan strobe that macro built in this article, http://www.bit-tech.net/article/80/ It works great with normal leds but now I want to take it to the next level.

Using those Star leds that linear reviewed, http://www.bit-tech.net/review/82/, which pull 350mA I want to power one of those suckers. But I doubt the strobe circuit can handle that kind of amperage. What kind of transistor can I stick on the output of the strobe circuit that will allow 350mA at 5v to pass through the transistor to provide incredible strobing power to those Star leds.

I am also thinking of running not 1 but four star leds with this strobe circuit totaling 1.4amps. What kind of transistor would this require?

Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks

TIP31A leaps to mind: easy to obtain, less than a dollar, and good for 3A collector current.

You'll want to consider using a series connection though, then your multiple LEDs will carry the same current.
