Linux Linux drivers for Via S3 onboard graphics

    any one know of any drivers for Via S3 onboard graphics, or infact any linux drivers for anything on this motherboard...

    How old is the board and what distro are you using?

    If the chipset is the Via PLE133T then it is listed in the Mandrake hardware list as "reported by users as working". Not sure if you would require a seperate driver for the graphics though?!

    Yeah that's why I was askign what distro, and how old, if it's brand new, then there might be, but if it's a little older, there's a very good chance most of the big distros like Redhat and Mandrake already have built in support for it.

    It may be good to check out www.viarena.com or the website for the manufacturer of board for drivers as well. Although you've probably already checked that.

    i had no choice there are no Linux drivers for the TV-out on that motherboard, or rather i can get it to display on the TV even up to the logon but as soon as it runs the desktop?!? it goes bye bye

    That's because you don't have it set up in X11 properly.

    ALl you have to do is vi the config file. I'm pretty sure that's all it is.

    check X11 out for more info.


    I agree about Windows 98.....

    ALthough it's a little more like, "you fixed my broken leg by amputating it"

    :hehe:

    EDIT: changed url cuz X11 decided to be a bunch of Nazis.
