hey folks, I'm looking for a better cooler to put on my 939 dual core.

There's a catch though; this is my case

ok, not exactly. it's the older version without the 45* mounted 50mm.
and it's black. and it has some paint.

but still, you can see from the pics that the PSU hangs right above the CPU.

right now I have an artic cooling Silencer TC on top of an OC'd 3800+ X2.

the cooler is about 5mm from my PSU, so I have about 75mm to play with. (120 fan on the bottom of the PSU)

I've got a decent amount of horizontal space. although i'm pretty close the the first dimm slot, I can always move the memory. and I need to re-do my wiring anyway.

    so, in summary:

I need a good compact cooler, and some new thermal material:

    Height<75mm.
    width<negotiable

i'm searching newegg, but wondering if anyone had any brilliant ideas. I wanna run boinc while doing other stuff.

The Zalman CNPS 7000 series have a dimensions of 109 x 109 x 62mm fits the height requirement, and they cool well. Most high-end coolers are tower-like, so they won't fit in.

Depending on what PSU you have, you might be able to fit a Thermalright SI-120 and be able to run it passive off the 120/135/140 in the bottom of the PSU.

I'd suggest staying away from the Zalman. It's huge, and not all that quiet.

The Silverstone NT-06 will fill up all that space (literally, it's about .5 mm away from the PSU), so it gets cooled by the PSU fan. I know a guy who dropped a quiet fan into his PSU and ran the cable out to his motherboard's CPU fan header, but as long as you keep an eye on the CPU temperatures, running it off the PSU's fan controller should be fine.

How about the Zalman CNPS 8000. Seems like a decent cooler and fits the size.
