    Maybe something from Draytek?

If you already have a device that can act as a modem, you could get a Draytek router, which is cheaper than a modem-router combo device. And if your current device is a modem-router, you can set it to bridge mode so it only acts as a modem.

Does the router really make a difference to games? I just have bog standard wireless n ones and haven't really noticed any problems in gaming, even with multiple concurrent users on the net.

If someone else is using internet while I am gaming I get all sorts of lag but many people talk about having routers with decent Qos and dont experience this. I was wondering which router modems would be the best for this.

May be worth waiting for the DGL-5500 to come out. Its got a new QoS engine that is meant to be excellent. I have used a predecessor, and it allowed me to game with ultra low pings while downloading large files ect.

You would need to get a cheap ADSL modem to go with it, but they are about £15 and work great.

I play alot of online games from BF3 to WOW and get a ping in the low 20ms region for most games, Thats on a wireless internet with at least 1 other user on the line.

Online games care more about your upload ability than they ever have about how fast you can get the data.

Depends if you have housemates who torrent or stream video that will effect your games for sure.

If someone else is just browsing the net that should impact too much though.

If you decide to go separates I would recommend the Netgear DG834Gv4 router to use as a modem.

Try having a torrent running, or as I have found out a sky box downloading a program.

For me unfortunately the moment my brother uses the web my ping goes crazy so looking for an alternative to asking him to not use the web while I am playing.

Why would anyone game online if people are downloading stuff.

No one downloads between 5pm to 11pm in my house to give people as fast as possible access for what they want to do.

Well, if you you use a load balancing router anyone can download when ever they want. Not all Internet users are switch on enough to know what might cause a slow down, I am not about to tell my dad when he can and cannot use iPlayer!

As for timeframe on the dgl, it's probably going to be this month or next, but no firm date, so if you in a hurry, go for an older one!
