Im looking to upgrade my CPU. Current specs in sig. My CPU (AMD 64 3500+)only has one core with 512k L2 cache @ 2.2Ghz(Boooo) My mobo is a DFI nF4 SLI-DR Link Im wanting to get a : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual-Core Processor (2.4GHz, 2MB, 1GHz Bus, Socket 939) Link First of all Will it work with my mobo, and will the 2meg cache be a awsome power boost from 512k? Cheers.
You have a socket 939 board so just make sure you get a socket 939 4800(the one in the link is 939 so thats fine). The extra cache should help a lot.
It will deffo work tho With it being a AMD 64 X2, as long as its a socket 939 it'll work yeah? I don't know why im asking this Im sure it will work, just making sure before I pay for it lol.
plop it in windows will go hello there dual core jobs a good un, some peeps dl the dual core optimiser from the amd site but windows loaded the driver for me as soon as I booted.
I was in a similar situation, i have a A8N-SLI premium (sig), i had a A64 3200+ (2ghz 512kb cache) and was considering getting a x2 4800+. I got the thing for 230$ canadian and i have to say... What a huge upgrade, it was a good move for me.
