    Hey, i've been lurking these forums for around a year now, without registering or posting. But anyways, i hope this isn't a repost or in the wrong section, here is a link that explains some tweaks with firefox to make it run faster.

    If you follow that guide dont set the max requests to 30 you will start to hose websites you go to! Set it to 5 and you will get a similar speed increase without killing the websites

    This is a neat trick, however why is it not set to that by default. If you knew you could make your product 20x faster without any issues then why not have it that way by default. Im not talking about maxrequests that could possibly hammer websites. Im talking about all the other settings.

    im curious about the side effects like possible security breaches from the other pipeline settings or whatever obscure reason its not that way by default.

    Like the setting that modifies the amount of time the browser to act on the information it recieves. If its to quick to act certain security checks might not have a chance to act before the browser responds. I mean I have no idea im just saying it would be cool to have a response from the firefox team about the setting changes.

    The maxrequests value depends on your connection speed. I have a ~3Mbps cable line and have the value at 100.

    100! you will start to cause the web servers you go to to drop connections. Maybe not yours but other peoples. Most servers cannot cope with 100+ connections and a set to drop connections over 120ish. Please reduce your max connections for the sake of other web users.

    It is a repost, but it was posted 7 months ago so it probably needed a little resurecting with all of the new converts to Firefox. Click

    And welcome to Bit! :thumb:

    You only get 8 max, whatever you enter over that. ;)

    From http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=53650

    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
    * Description: maximum number of consecutive requests in one pipeline.
    * Type: integer
    * Limit: 8
    * Default: 4
    * Additional Info: nsHTTP.h. Optimal value depends on connection bandwidth/latency.
    * Recommendation: 8. While it doesn't hurt to set it to 100 like in other tweak examples, it will have no effect whatsoever because of the mentioned limit.

    But, as Gary W found here , YMMV
