Some of you may have followed my thread around my HTPC / NAS - which can be found here. The machine is mainly acting as my in-house Plex server and I am really happy with how it turned out. Yay. But.. these things are never finished really.. and I wanted to find another challenge. A for-sale thread and some discussions with @The_Pope saw a used APC Smart UPS SC 450 (what a legend). It was in unknown condition so a little bit of a risk. It had some marks on the top and no facia panel. Plugged it in - nothing.. no life.. no lights.. no beeps. nada! Dead as a dodo! Pulled it apart, checked the fuses, even removed the battery, and popped it on the battery charger outside - left it a couple of days... dead. But... this gave me some inspiration whilst the UPS sat there - I wonder if I could dress it up a little. i managed to find a local ups for sale - the same model. but this one has a front facia too!
Figured a nice bit of wood always looks good! and i finally found myself a little bit of elm wood! which this chap very helpfully cut down for me.. and we have it cut to the same sort of shape... Thought i would pop down and see a mate - who owns a laser engraving machine. and success!
