Disclaimer; I totally ripped off the guide on metkumods with their idea of making custom thumbscrews and using dice for them, but I found this one at school today and remembered the mod and just had to try it myself.

    Tools needed:

    - Drill
    - Strong adhesive (epoxy or superglue)
    - Clamp or vice grip

    Items needed for mod:

^ Object to mount screw into (in this case a dice) and a standard case screw.

    Step 1:

Place object in a vice or just hold it if you can.

    Step 2:

Drill shallow hole into the item. I got the idea of using the 1 dotted side of the dice because then theres a perfect hole in the middle so your hole will be smack in the middle, and theres no surrounding holes to partially drill out.

    Fits perfectly!

    Step 3:

Put glue into the hole and put in the end of the screw, clamp in place until the glue dries.

    All done!

    Works!

Doing this is a great and cheap way to make custom or novelty thumbscrews. Its also so simple and straightforward that writing a guide is almost redundant. Enjoy!

ROFL this is funny. i find it commical to put a dice on a screw on your case haha. unless your case is a boardgame, i dont think it would be very good however it is a novel idea. i can use this for other things =D

Thanks to this guide I can now have a dice on my PC to go with my hanging dice in my car :)

Seriously, nice and easy guide and I was surprised by how the end result turned out.

actually this can also be ued to make round generic thumbscrews, by using a lathe, grinder, or drill press to rotate the screw shaft and sand down the dice (the color of which is chosen previously); and you have an instant colored plastic thumbscrew.

mix with dice of theme color for best effect.

for those with a lathe this can be used to create some awesome designer thumbscrews.

go to a hardware shop and get a thread tap and a new screw for the tap thread size.

the hole will be slightly larger (so will the screw size, but when it's on it shouldn't be noticable.

to avoid trying to put the new screw somwhere else if you disassemble the case, try and get a colored screw.

Yes I was aware at the time but the word die can be confusing to the lesser educated ranks of society. Its similar to the debate of aluminium vs aluminum, and even though we all know we are wrong, we still like our way.
