Hi guys, this is the first time i will log my work (actually this is my 3rd real project) here. My name is Andreas, i am 32 and from Germany. So as the forums have been down when i started my project, i missed to log it right away when they came back on. The project itself is now going on for about a month. Before i had any clue about what hardware i would use, i tried to get a nice theme and i because i like TV-series very much, i decided to go with season 4 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D when the Ghostrider joins them. But it is not totally about the Ghostrider, but more about the very own teaser they made to announce the season (i guess a tram had it all over in San Francisco?) Now as you can see, Cooler Master already did join this project while i reworked the Teaser. But at that time i did not know what i would get, but i knew i need a chain for my project. So i bought a steel chain, 2 meters long, 2kg in weight and started to paint it with acrylic paint (i wanted to work with acrylic paint) A week later, Cooler Master and i decided to work on the MasterBox Lite 5. In addition to the case, we chose to work with RGB Fans, the MasterFan Pro Air Flow. Okay, the forum limits me to 10 pictures per Post, so i will continue...
right here... The hardware was delivered, so i was able to start modding the case. i cut out holes in the front so a chain link could fit and dive into it. A nice decal i ordered (was not planned to be on that side panel) fit right into the theme. For the front, i had those shiny RGB (running in red until i get a controller for them) fans and i wanted it to look different. So i bought a cheap 3D printer and the first thing i printed was a 1mm fan grill (those i use are my 2nd and 3rd print). As the contrast was not satisfying, i painted their back with black acrylic paint. and we will continue...
yep. nice time jumps, recaping about a month in a few minutes. Ok, i already told you i chose acrylic paint to be my choice for this project right? More of it...and yea, i am not a good painter at all. The old PSU shroud was removed and the HDD cage also has to be removed, as there is not that much space for cable management. I replaced the HDD cage with a 3d printed one (1 HDD is enough) and made my own PSU shroud out of acrylic sheet (3 parts, 2 layers). soon up to date...
last one...yes! the PSU shroud was wrapped in vynyl, and decorated with acrylic paint, acrylic sheet parts and for testing i put a RGB below. The chain got shortened, painted again and clearcoated. Also the side window did get a hole so the chain fits through. And a hydra badge was printed, can't see it yet, but later it will sit on the PSU shroud which will be illuminated more than it is now. thats my progress for now. I'll get a new PSU and mainboard this week to work on. Hope you like it - even if not, i am open to criticism and suggestions of any kind. Have a nice day!
The last few weeks since my last posting follow now... First of all, i want to mention that AsRock also joined this project with a Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 AND an AMD Ryzen 1500X. Also i recieved the PSU (V550) and CPU Cooler (Hyper 212 LED Turbo) from Cooler Master. Thanks again! So, time went by again...and i have to recap (i wish i could post all the time the news are hot, but i never find the time for that). New Hardware means building it in... Also meant cables could be sleeved fitting to to theme colors: Switched the RX580 to a GTX1060 Mini. Because i wanted more focus on my chain. As you see there, the CPU cooler was installed vertically - that meant bad airflow. Contacted Cooler Master and asked for a solution (bracket) but there was none, so i improvised with some window foam and screws which were included.
so the CPU cooler was fixed as it should be. Also dust in my working room is annoying, so i printed out holding brackets and used fly screens to have a little bit of dust filter Painting the side panel with some acrylic to get a used look or sth like that. 3d printing a cover for the cable routing...didn't like it.
i removed the sparks i painted, also the fire around the CM Logo - bad job of mine. looks better without it. i also printed cable combs...very bad ones. it's either me, or my 150€ printer but it doesn't attract that much attention. so i used them anyway. so i managed to realize all my plans, the project looks as i was hoping...now i only need to get much more better final photos to finish it.
Project is done, sadly i don't get hands on a descent camera to make better shots. So i decided to take the best i could make with my poor S7. As there was not much discussion, i really hope you like the mod anyway. Thanks again to Cooler Master and AsRock for making this mod possible.
