I have a two-pronged question/issue, as in one is dependent on the other.

I was wondering when or from where I can download the 1501 BIOS mentioned here.

The reason I'm so eager to try this BIOS out is that one peculiar problem I'm having with my system. From the time I power it on (or do a reboot) it takes exactly 25 seconds before something actually happens. I should add that the system powers up, but nothing happens for those first 25 seconds. Then the graphics card BIOS is initialised and then the system posts. It's been like this since I assembled this system.

I think there's a mistake between Max Form and the Max III Form which also has a 1501. Maybe they meant 1401.

Check the BIOS and see if the IDE is set to wait for 25 seconds, or try disabling 3rd party chipsets just to see.

    Thanks for replying, Bindi!

I'm running the latest official BIOS, which is 1403. I'm pretty sure there's no mixup between the Maximus Formula and the Maximus III Formula, since BIOS 1501 enables support for some later LGA775-based Celeron and Pentium processors. The Maximus III on the other hand is a LGA1156-based.

As for checking my current BIOS settings, I've been through all of them many times before. There's no time-out and the only 3rd party chip in use is the JMicron® JMB368 PATA controller, which I've also already tried disabling.

This issue I'm having is quite weird, but thankfully the system runs fine otherwise, although of course it's quite a bit dated now (the graphics card most of all). The only reason I'm interested in that newer BIOS is because of that tiny shred of hope, that it might resolve this boot issue... :sigh:

Finally had the chance to try out a different graphics card (as had been suggested elsewhere) in the form of a Radeon HD5770. Behaviour is exactly the same, so the 25 second waiting time isn't caused by the graphics card. :wallbash:
