Just skimmed the surface on what's available in terms of a small media box and found the Asus OPlay HD2...

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...-hdd-function-with-usb3-and-usb2-esata-itunes

My main needs and functions include creating a digital archive of DVDs and Blu-ray films so they can be watched with a click of the remote (already know the above needs a HDD) and also easy front panel access to various memory card formats to browse photos and the odd movie. The Asus OPlay HD2 appears to tick these boxes for a fair price but can I do better for around the same money? Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Small fans ain't what they used to be! My Sky box has two and they are nice and quiet.

Also that Bit-Tech review is the only rather negative one I've read. All the others sing praises for the Asus OPlay HD2.

Don't go for an Acer Revo, really struggles with HD streaming :(
