If there's a software solution please suggest.

A friend of mine wants to make his in-game voice sound like radio comms. He's using MorphVox to distort his voice and make it sound like it's coming over a radio but he also wanted a walkie-talkie like click noise before and after he speaks.
He's tried scripting a soundboard with his Push-to-talk key and then mixing it with his mic using virtual audio cable. But the audio was delayed by Virtual Audio Cable too much.

So I had a little idea. Can it be done electronically? I was thinking of a small circuit inserted between his mic and PC. Taps off the MIC+ into a transistor that will allow a capacitor to bleed a pulse into the circuit that hopefully will be interpreted as a click sound. Sorry for the crude explanation I hope it got my idea across. Here's an even more crude diagram.
