I thought that on one pc it could be just a minor bug but on two i dont think so. My dads and my sisters pc's both have the microsoft intellimouse optical but when the pc's are turned off the led in the mouse stays on. On my dads i just turn the power supply off but cant on my sisters as it is a HP Pavillion and has no switch. Any ideas?

Can you use a power strip? That would fix the problem and would provide protection for the comp when it is off.

There will be a jumper on the motherboard, or a setting in the BIOS which will enable you to make sure USB and PS2 devices are not powered via +5VSB when the system is powered down.

I would think that if you plugged in the intellimouse into the USB port you'd be fine. (iirc all inteillimice have usb connectors on them then include a usb to ps2 adapter)

So it's possible to start the computer by pressing a mouse button. Same thing with keyboards, but at least those LEDs turn off.

is it connected via usb or ps2?

i have the same mouse connected to usb, when connected straight to the mobo usb the mouse turns off when the computer is off but when connected to my powered usb hub it stays on all the time.

sooo... are either of the computers using a usb hub?
