    Hi,

Can I ask for some advice on this mobo?

Specifically, is it a 'proper' AM3 mobo, or is it just AM3 compatible? The research I've done suggests that it might be an AM2+ which supports AM3 - also the board only takes DD2 memory (which is fine by me). There is plenty on the net about this board as an AM2+, but the Asus website says that it's 'optimized for AM3 CPU' - I would have thought that if it was re-issued as an AM3 board from an AM2+ board it would have a different model identifier (or am I being thick?).

Second question is how much difference will the CrossfireX feature make with an HD4870? I can't see the IGP making a huge difference, but it would be useful to know.

    Thanks in advance.

Thats an AM2+ board, it will take an AM3 cpu but it only uses DDR2. If it was an AM3 board then it would take DDR3.
