    Scenario:
One day I was doing some homework and I looked up at my monitor and it shut off, then on again. The computer restarted itself. I go to turn it on again, and all that happens is the fans go balls out. Normally, the fans only go that hard for like 1 second when I unplug the computer when I'm gonna take it somewhere and then plug it back in and turn it on. Nothing shows up on the monitor. I have a strong feeling that the motherboard is bad. How should I go about testing either the Mobo and the CPU. I don't have or know anyone with a spare mobo or cpu to test them.

    Tested
    I've tested the:
    - RAM
    - Hard Drive
    - Video Card
    - Power Supply

I haven't tested the DVD drive because I highly doubt thats the reason this stuff is happening.

    Hardware
    CPU: AMD Anthlon 64 3000+ (socket 939)
    Mobo: FN95V2.0 (Shuttle SN95g5 barebone)
    RAM: 2G OCZ PC3200
    HD: Western Digital 80 gig
    PSU: 240 W

The barebone came with the CPU heatsink, Power Supply, and Motherboard.

The truth is that you can't really test the mobo/CPU without spares. Try getting a cheap S939 mobo on eBay or something.

Can you get the PC to boot at all?

No, I just push the power button and the fans blast away and the LEDs on the mobo turn on, but nothing on the screen.

What would everyone suggest between these two options?

    AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Venice 2.2GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - OEM
    $51 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103023

    -OR-

FN95 Socket 939 AMD TM Athlon 64 Processor Based DDR Main Board
$135 (roughly) I have to buy from shuttle from what I can tell

    So CPU or Mobo?

Does the mobo have it's own power button, after flashing my BIOS I had to hold it for ages to get it to boot up.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

it does sound like either a dead mobo or a dead cpu. i suspect the motherboard, i have several older ones that will turn on, everything spins like crazy, but nothing ever happens.
