There has been some discussion about suits (mostly advices of getting one, I think), but with search I didn't find anything about Modern Tailor, anyone tried it? I've been thinking about getting a simple black suit, nice and less "serious" jacket and few shirts and ties, but propably going to try their Trial-Shirt offer first to see how good the quality is, and how well it is tailored for my measurements, but even before that, I would like to know if someone has some experience about them? Specially I'm curious about the quality of fabrics and seams, and of course about the "tailoring", how well it fits after the given measurements? And if there is already a official Suit-Up! -thread, please notify me and I move my question there, and if there isn't, I believe we seriously may need one? And btw, anyone proved this to be true? (Might this be the reason why I don't have life)
I had a tailor made suit for my wedding earlier this year. It was a great experience, getting to decide on all the little bits of the suit from style, fabric and lining right down to the button holes pockets and vents. I now have a really special custom suit I can wear for any occasion. Most people assume it will be really expensive, and yes compared to a high street off the peg suit from somewhere like Top Man it probably is. However compared to an average designer suit it's not all that bad. You can easily get a tailor made suit in England for £400; you just have to be careful on fabric choice (this is where it can get really expensive) and customisations. I had mine made at a local tailor who also have a shop on Savile Row, they were really nice and I can heartily recommend it. As to the lingerie question, all I can say is it seemed to work well enough on my now wife
In my experience, a tailored suit (apart from looking rather sharp) really boosts your self-confidence, and this is what makes the big difference with the ladies (that's what I think it does for me anyways - and it really does work!).
