Ouijia has kindly been making me a small box for me to use as a HTPC. I think its based on the PC24 or something from maplin, ill let ouija tell you about the moddin when he sees this thread.

Im still looking at what software to use, one that catches my eye at the moment is the one discussed here: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26657&highlight=htpc Link to site here.

Here are some pictures from various stages of the development, thanks to ouija. Im gonna post these pics. then post more at my end when i recieve it (hopefully some time soon), and as i fit the hardware and set it all up.

Anyway for now, pictures :) -

Hmmm something interesting. Things I did.

The box arrived dented so I spent about a month getting a backordered replacement from Maplin. While I waited on the new box, I used the undamaged bottom part and cut the I/O hole, mounted the PSU and motherboard plate (a sheet of alu I use as an Epia template). Soldered up the LED loom and attached a molex passthrough and a switch which is mounted next to the power socket. You can see the LEDs through the clear fans of course, and the shiny inside means it's pretty bright :)

Um.... had to mount the PSU twice because it fell off when I forced the cables out of the way of the intake fan. Fixed with cable ties now. Hmmm... Switch and LEDs are tailed so they plug straight onto the motherboard. I'm going to add HDD standoffs tomorrow, 4 motherboard standoffs upside down from the underside. Moreland will have to screw them into his HDD, line up the holes and put the screws in from the underside. For this reason, I stuck some rubber feet on.

That's about it. Oh, I mounted the fans in the same method as my mod guide

    The end. :cooldude:

Nice one! Much like the maplin box I made last year. I see youve used the same switch and led holders I used, they are great little touches.

What I couldnt stand when making mine was how easy the case scratched. I ended up getting it professionally sprayed star silver and it looked great:)

Btw what psu are you using?

No problems with scratching here, I remember you mentioning the spraying. I saw your pics. I took the workings of a seasonic 120w FlexATX PSU out and mounted it into the box.
