I'm having a really annoying problem. My mouse jumps around and miss-clicks constantly, and my keyboard will not type properly. I've checked in my bios to make sure the USB settings are correct, I've disabled my wireless router and that wasn't it, and I even connected the mouse and keyboard into my other computer and it works just fine. I'm pretty much stumped. It is a fresh install of Vista with full updates, mobo up to date, graphics up to date, everything brand spanking new. Oh, btw, its a Logitech MX3200 Duo. Anyone have any ideas at what the problem could be?
Try switching Vista desktop down to basic/non-aero and see if it makes a difference. I've seen people complain about mouse polling rate issues which turned out to be a problem with vista desktop effects and GPU drivers.
what refresh rate its your monitor giving? do you have a tv as display? check if the refresh rate its below 50hz, anything below this setting will cause sttutering in the mouse.
I'm already running Vista at the lowest graphical settings possible, even though I have two 4870's. Also, the refresh rate is at 60hz and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Is this a wired or wireless keyboard/mouse? It might be a stupid question, but if they're wireless have you tried moving the dongle/receiver closer to the keyboard and mouse? I occasionally get the same problem with my MS keyboard/mouse combo - usually thanks to interference (my router, receiver and bluetooth dongle are all in very close proximity) - and moving the receiver closer fixes it. If they're wired, then move along....
Do you by any chance have a glass desk? When I had a glass desk, it seemed to make the mouse stop responding for a few seconds and occasionally the keyboard not type letters, or stutter then catch up by writing several letters. The mouse and keyboard were both on a mousemat, not the glass itself. I assume the signal was bouncing off the glass oddly and disturbing it. I have a huge mousepad (the boogie bug xl) and what I had to do was to sit the receiver on the mousepad along with the keyboard and mouse so it had a clear line of site without any glass. It wasn't perfect but worked much better. I am not certain if it was solely down to the glass or that only worsened the issue, when I reinstalled windows I went back to another desk and the problem was completely gone.
Yea..I've tried moving the dongle within a foot of the mouse and it still doesn't help. I also use a func mouse pad so I don't think thats it and like I said, I've tried the mouse on another computer and it worked just fine. This is so frustrating. It's so weird, the mouse will freeze for a second or two every minute or so and if I get heavy HardDrive access or USB drive access the mouse will start jumping and skipping around when I try to use it.
hmmm... Does your updates include mouse/keyboard drivers?... maybe you could look for newer ones, or if you do have the latest ones.. then you could try with no drivers at all... let Vista install its own standard drivers for the device!!
I'm having the same problem with my mouse. I have Razer Lachesis, My motherboard is K9A2 Platinum and I have to always unplug my mouse and plug back in. I have vista 64bit. I have updated every driver in my computer. I have tried running old drivers. I have installed 1.94 firmware from Razer I have update my motherboard drivers and still. I have to unplug my usb razer mouse and plug back in. I have tried running vista 32 bit, nothing, everyday few times a day, My mouse will glitch or be all over the place. I unplug and plug back in, works for awhile. Sucks. My mother has the same motherboard, has the G35 mouse, Razer copper head and has same trouble with mouse. I have tried everything. Only thing I have left to do is get a different motherboard, and trust me it will NOT be a MSI one.
this really seems to be an issue especially with logitech stuff. i have these issues intermittently also. seems to be made much worse when using the logitech drivers instead of windows default. if you can live without any of the special function keys, not using logitechs drivers might be the easiest fix. also which dongle type did your bundle include, the big stick or the micro plug? another thing that helped me, was that i ended up just using the wood desk, and no mouse pad at all. the texture seems to help the mouse track better. if you have a solid color surfcae that you mouse on, try something with some kind of design on it may improve the mouse at least.
